Updating the Plugin
Keeping Customer History up to date gives you the latest features, fixes, and security patches. Updating works exactly like any other WordPress plugin.
Automatic updates
When a new version is available, update it the usual way:
- Go to Dashboard → Updates, or the Plugins screen.
- Find “PureDevs Customer History for WooCommerce” and click Update.
WordPress downloads and installs the new version in place. Pro licenses receive updates through the same screen once the license is active.
Before you update
Back up first
Updates are routine, but a full backup of your files and database means you can always roll back if something on your site misbehaves.
- Take a full site backup (files + database).
- Make sure WordPress and WooCommerce are themselves up to date.
- If you run a staging site, test there first.
After updating
- Open Customer History → Dashboard to confirm everything loads.
- If you use a caching plugin, clear its cache so the admin screens load fresh assets.
Your recorded data and settings carry over automatically — updates never reset them.
Upgrading from Free to Pro
Pro isn’t a separate plugin. Upgrading is handled from within Customer History (powered by Freemius):
- Open the Upgrade screen in the plugin and choose a plan.
- After purchase, activate your license. The Pro version replaces the free one under the same plugin, and the advanced features switch on in place.
Nothing to migrate
All the data you’ve already collected stays exactly where it is — Pro reads the same database tables. There’s no second plugin to run alongside the free one, and no re-tracking. If you ever stop renewing, your store keeps working and your data stays put; you simply stop receiving Pro updates and support.
If an update fails
- Update timed out: try again (temporary network hiccups are common), or update from the Plugins screen.
- Site looks broken after an update: deactivate the plugin via FTP/your host file manager (rename its folder under
wp-content/plugins/), restore your backup, and tell support what happened.
