Exporting Data
Step-by-step export process:
- Go to Customer History → Export
- Select data type to export
- Choose date range (optional)
- Apply filters (optional):
- Customer tier
- Purchase amount
- Geographic location
- Tags
- Select export format (CSV, JSON, XML)
- Click Export
- Download file
Scheduled Exports
Automate regular backups:
- Go to Settings → Scheduled Exports
- Enable automatic exports
- Choose frequency:
- Daily
- Weekly
- Monthly
- Select data to export
- Choose delivery method:
- Email attachment
- FTP server
- Cloud storage (Dropbox, Google Drive)
- Save settings
Schedule weekly exports to ensure you always have recent backups of your customer data.
Importing Data
Restore from Backups
Restore previously exported data:
- Go to Customer History → Import
- Click Choose File
- Select backup file (CSV or JSON)
- Choose import mode:
- Replace: Overwrite existing data
- Merge: Add new and update existing
- Add Only: Skip existing records
- Review data mapping
- Click Import
Bulk Customer Updates
Update multiple customers at once:
- Export current customer list
- Edit in Excel/Sheets
- Update tier levels, tags, or notes
- Re-import updated file
- Changes applied to matching customers
Data Mapping
Match import file columns to database fields:
- Email → customer_email
- Name → customer_name
- Tier → tier_level
- Tags → customer_tags
- Points → tier_points
The system auto-detects common field names but allows manual mapping for custom fields.
Import/Export Best Practices
- Regular Backups: Export data weekly or monthly
- Test Imports: Use small test files before bulk imports
- Validate Data: Check for errors in export files
