Segmentation Criteria
Purchase Behavior
- Total orders placed
- Total amount spent
- Average order value
- Purchase frequency
- Days since last purchase
- Favorite product categories
- Preferred brands
Engagement Level
- Total site visits
- Pages viewed per visit
- Time spent on site
- Email open rates
- Email click rates
- Products viewed vs purchased
Demographics
- Geographic location
- Device type (mobile, desktop, tablet)
- Browser and OS

Customer Lifecycle
- New customers (first 30 days)
- Active customers (purchased recently)
- At-risk customers (haven’t purchased in X days)
- Lapsed customers (inactive for 90+ days)
- One-time buyers

Creating Segments
Step-by-step guide:
- Go to Customer History → Segments
- Click Create New Segment
- Name your segment
- Add filtering criteria:
- Choose attribute (e.g., Total Spent)
- Select operator (greater than, less than, equals)
- Enter value (e.g., $500)
- Add multiple criteria with AND/OR logic
- Preview matching customers
- Save segment
Pre-Built Segments
VIP Customers
Criteria:
- Total spent > $1,000 OR
- Orders placed > 10 OR
- Customer tier = Platinum/Gold
At-Risk Customers
Criteria:
- Previous orders > 2 AND
- Days since last purchase > 60 AND
- Email opens in last 30 days = 0
Brand New Customers
Criteria:
- Account created within last 7 days AND
- First purchase completed
One-Time Buyers
Criteria:
- Total orders = 1 AND
- Days since purchase > 30
High Spenders
Criteria:
- Average order value > $200 OR
- Total lifetime value > $2,000
Cart Abandoners
Criteria:
- Cart abandoned in last 7 days AND
- Cart value > $50 AND
- No follow-up purchase made

Email Campaigns
Send targeted emails to segments:
- Select segment
- Click Send Email
- Choose or create email template
- Personalize content for segment
- Schedule or send immediately
Coupon Distribution
Generate segment-specific coupons:
- Win-back offers for at-risk customers
- VIP exclusive discounts
- First-timer welcome bonuses
- Category-specific offers
Export Segments
Export customer lists:
- CSV format for email platforms

Dynamic Segments
Segments that auto-update:
Dynamic Segmentation
Segments automatically update as customer behavior changes. A customer who was “at-risk” will move to “active” once they make a purchase.
Enable dynamic segments:
- Edit segment settings
- Enable “Auto-update membership”
- Set refresh frequency (hourly, daily)
- Save changes

- Total revenue from segment
- Average order value
- Campaign response rates
