Real-Time Customer Tracking

Live Session Monitoring allows you to see exactly what customers are doing on your store right now. Watch as visitors browse products, search for items, and navigate through your site in real-time.

Accessing Live Sessions

To view live sessions:

  1. Go to Customer History → Live Sessions
  2. You’ll see a list of all current active visitors
  3. Click on any session to view detailed activity

Session Information Displayed

For each active session, you can see:

  • Current Page: The page the visitor is currently viewing
  • Time on Site: How long they’ve been browsing
  • Pages Viewed: Number of pages visited this session
  • Source: Where the visitor came from (direct, search engine, referral)
  • Device Type: Desktop, mobile, or tablet
  • Location: Geographic location (if available)
  • Customer Status: New visitor, returning customer, or logged-in user

Practical Use Cases

1. Identify Purchase Intent

Spot customers viewing multiple products or returning to the same item – they’re likely close to purchasing. Consider reaching out with targeted assistance or offers.

2. Troubleshoot User Experience

Watch for customers who seem stuck or repeatedly visit the same pages. This might indicate confusing navigation or unclear product information.

3. Capture Lost Sales

See someone abandoning their cart? Use this insight to send timely cart recovery emails or improve your checkout process.

4. Monitor Campaign Effectiveness

Track traffic from your marketing campaigns in real-time. See which campaigns drive the most engaged visitors.

Notice which products are getting the most views right now. This real-time data can inform inventory decisions and featured product placement.

Best Practices

  1. Set Up Notifications: Configure alerts for high-value customers or specific behaviors
  2. Regular Monitoring: Check live sessions during peak traffic hours
  3. Document Patterns: Keep notes on common user journeys and pain points
  4. Test Changes: After site updates, monitor sessions to ensure improved UX
  5. Train Your Team: Ensure customer service has access to session data for better support
